He received his Master’s degree in Music Performance from the prestigious Eastman School of Music where he studied with Michael Burritt, and he completed his undergraduate study at Belmont University in Nashville where he studied with Christopher Norton. Josh’s career reflects his consistent effort to evade categorization. He appears in multiple recordings and performances with the Eastman Percussion Ensemble, has performed alongside members of the country’s leading orchestras and percussion groups at recognized venues such as Lincoln Center, Aspen, and Tanglewood, and remains active as a freelance musician in Austin. A well-rounded educator, Josh is passionate about teaching all ages and skill levels, with students ranging from age 6 to 63! He also holds an EC-12 certification in Texas and taught K-5 vocal and instrumental music in Humble from 2020-2022. His interests outside of teaching include cooking, brewing specialty coffee, visiting national parks, traveling abroad, writing and producing music, performing with La Murga de Austin at Austin FC related events, and avidly supporting Arsenal in the English Premier League. |
