Welcome to the new Scrip fundraiser! Read all info below carefully!


What Is Scrip?

Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for your student's travel account.

How scrip generates revenue for you
 The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools, and other non profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. The Hays Band Boosters buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount   from two to fifteen percent or more – is revenue to your student's travel account.

Scrip is "shopping cart fundraising” 
Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip.

How does this help my student? 
This program works just like our former HEB card fundraiser EXCEPT you must prepay for your cards. We will take orders each month based on the form on the Hays Band Website. www.haysbands.org. The form has all of the available cards and percentages. Each month you print off a new form and fill in your order. Simply place an order prior to the deadline listed on the website. Turn in your order form and check to Kathy. When the order comes in you will be notified via a Google group email that your order is ready to be picked up. You will need to pick up your order – it will not be delivered or sent home with your student. You can participate each month or as many times as you want. The money generated will be put into your student's travel account. Ask your scrip coordinator listed below if you have further questions. Please read the guidelines and rules carefully. By placing an order you have read and agreed to comply with those restrictions.

May 21, 2012 (at 9th grade orientation)

You may place an order at any time prior to the deadline. Orders are taken at the band booster meetings. (August 29, September 26, October 24, November 28, January 23,February 27, March 26, April 23) The deadline to turn in orders is 8pm on the above dates.   All orders need to be placed with Kathy Cavin. Click here to email or call Kathy at 512-295-8183 or 512-914-1209. You must contact her to coordinate coming to her home if you are not able to place the order at the band booster meeting.  This must be done prior to the above deadlines - no order will be taken after 8pm of the above dates.  DO NOT turn in orders to Mrs. Luther or a band director.  ONLY Kathy Cavin can take Scrip orders.  Any orders received after the deadline will be placed on the following order. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Guidelines and Rules for Participation

The Scrip program is offered through the band boosters to assist you in raising money for your student's travel account. Participation by band booster members is optional. 

Complete the following form to agree to all rules governing this program. Your orders will not be accepted unless we have a completed form on file for you.

I agree to the following:
  • Providing an email address and joining our Google group email distribution list. This is how all notices will be sent regarding payment deadlines and when cards are available for pick up.
  • Writing one check for the complete amount of the order. Only parents, step-parents, or legal guardians of a student may participate in the program directly. In other words, the check for the cards must come only from a valid Scrip program participant. You are welcome to take orders from other family and friends to help your student's account but we will only accept order forms and checks from the valid participant. We will not accept outside checks from anyone. TIP - get a check from family and friends written to you and then write us one check.
  • Accurately and completely filling out the order form. This is important for our bookkeeping records.
  • Cover all fees due to bounced checks. Anyone who writes the boosters a bad check must incur all fees associated with the bad check and will no longer be allowed to participate in the Scrip program. Due to the quick turnaround time we cannot accept post-dated checks. You should expect that the day you give us the check it will be deposited. You must have sufficient funds to cover the entire check amount at the time it is turned in.
