Private instrument instruction is available to improve students' competence and confidence on their instrument. Instructors have been interviewed by the band directors and are trained and experienced at the collegiate level. Lessons are 30 minutes if before or after school, or 1/2 the band period.

The cost is $72 every 4 weeks paid to the private lesson instructor.

POLICY for HS band students for Fridays after school during marching season -- Please review this policy with your child.  On Fridays the students must remain in the cafeteria for meals until 4:45 unless they are picking up their meal and going home.  After 4:45 they must stay in the band hall if they are going to remain on campus.  Remember they are always free to go home during this period and come back by their report time.  For away games their report time is often 4:45 so they usually do not go home.  This policy is mostly for home games.  I know the students enjoy spending this time together but they need to realize that they will no longer be able to run around the school campus. No Exceptions. If they do not want to be in the band hall then they need to go home until report time.

At the beginning of each school year, students have a "clean slate" and are eligible to participate in extracurricular activities -- band performances for this explanation.

After the first six-weeks grading period, UIL rules enforcment comes into play.

If a band student has failed any class at the end of a six-week grading period, they are ineligible to participate in all band performances and contests (e.g., football game half-time performances, concerts and contests).

They may (and are expected to) rehearse with the band during their ineligibility.

Students may re-establish eligibilty one week after the next three-week progress reporting period by having passing progress grades in all classes.  (In other words, there is a 7 day waiting period after showing passing progress grades before they are again eligible.)
