Matt Acosta is a multi-instrumentalist from Duncanville, TX, with a specialization in trombone and a number of genres including jazz, classical, and commercial music. After earning his bachelor’s in music education from Texas State University, Matt pursued his master’s in jazz studies at the Jacob’s School of Music at Indiana University, graduating in 2023. He has performed with several prominent groups in a wide range of genres, such as the Eddie Durham All-Star Big Band directed by Doug Lawrence, the Colour of Music Festival Orchestra, along with local freelancing for wedding bands, churches, and corporate events.

Being a multi-instrumentalist, Matt is also proficient on guitar and bass guitar, and regularly records and teaches private lessons on those instruments as well. Enjoying a passion for composing/arranging as well, Matt has had the opportunity of being employed by the University of Kentucky and the IU Dance Department. Most recently, he has had his work “Chile con Soul” premiered at the 2023 International Trombone Festival, and released his debut album giving(THANKS.), available on all major platforms.
