Area Competition - Gupton Stadium, Leander - Saturday 10/29 - Results
21 "1" rated bands from several regions started the day with only 4 being able to go to State. We knew it would be tough but once the prelims were completed the Hays Rebels were moved on to the top 10 and an evening march in the finals! It was a late, cold night and the band marched an amazing show but the competition was intense and we were not able to advance to state. We are super proud of these kids! Making finals in Central Texas Area D is quite an accomplishment and they need to hold their heads high. The bands that advanced to state were - Cedar Park, Lake Travis, Vandergrift, and our Hays County neighbors Dripping Springs. Lehman also marched and had great showing in the prelims but did not advance to the evening finals. Be sure and congratulate them if you know someone from that band. We are proud of both of the HCISD High Schools.

U.I.L. Marching Contest - Tuesday, 10/18 - Results
Congrats to the Hays Rebel Marching Band - The Pride of Rebel Country! They received a "1" (the highest score) at UIL and advance to the Area competition in Leander on Saturday, 10/29. Several regions combine to form the Area competition and from there advance to State. Don't let up yet! Area is always highly competitive as there are lots of very good bands around here.
Click here for the full marching schedule of the bands that competed in our region.
By the way - our friends at Lehman also received a 1 so tell them congrats! HCISD will be well represented by two fine bands at the Area contest.

Westlake Marching Festival and USSBA Festival - Saturday, 10/8 - Results
For those of you who did not spend the day with us the Hays Rebel Band marched incredibly well. At Westlake we got 4th in the 4 AAAA division against some very tough competitors. At the USSBA competition at Shelton we placed 2nd in class IV competing against 7 bands. We did march the finals in the evening and finished 4th in the overall final competition out of 8 bands. We are so proud of our band kids. That is outstanding for their first real 'all day' band marching competitions. For the freshman this is a whole new experience. It takes a lot of energy and focus to do this all day. They got soaked in the rain, and then the sun came out and baked them like a sauna.... and still they smiled and marched. Please congratulate them on a day well done. Find links associated with these festivals on the Links page.
