May 23rd. The whole band is being asked to meet at the band hall at 5:20 the scrimmage will be over by 8:00. We will be on the visitor side( in the shade) the scrimmage begins at 6:15 for parents wanting to attend the event. Students should Wear band shirt and Khaki shorts.<br /><br />Spring Band Picnic for High school students ONLY!!! The picnic will be May 22nd at the Kyle Pool again. Admission is $5 per person the whole family is welcome to attend but each person must pay $5. We will not be handing out tickets but will be keeping a list of who has paid to check you off at the gate to the pool area. We are asking that you please pay in advance so that we prepare enough food. Meal will include Hamburgers and hotdogs and all the trimmings, desserts, chips and fruit as usual. Seniors are free and they are allowed two free parent tickets as well. SENIORS YOU MUST RSVP even if you are not paying. We need a head count of the seniors attending since we do a special presentation/gifts /recognition of all the seniors. You can turn in your money to Mrs. Luther IF you missed todays deadline please get yourmoney to Mrs. Luther by Monday.<br /><br />If you have high school students there are forms on the haysbands.org website where you can place an ad honoring your student in next year&rsquo;s football program. Costs and explanations are on the forms. Addie Keller is in our band and also a cheerleader and they are placing orders through June the 20th. Check out the website or contact the Keller&rsquo;s at 312-5522.<br /><br />FINAL Scrip order for the spring we will be taking final orders May 21st at the BEGINNING of the Freshman parent meeting. If you are not going to be at that meeting you can still drop off your order a table will be set up in the back of the band hall. We will also be taking orders over the weekend Saturday from 5-9 pm and Sunday from 10 am-3:30 pm at Kathy Cavin&rsquo;s home.<br /><br />ATTENTION all incoming Freshman parents ( this year&rsquo;s 8th graders) There is an important parent meeting on May 21st at 6:30 in the hays band hall. &nbsp;You will get lots of information about the upcoming year and marching season and summer band. &nbsp;Please plan on attending this meeting.<br /><br />June marching camp will be June 4,5,6,7th from 9-11:30 for all High school band students. Officers will have work days in the afternoons till 4:00 and on Friday. The boosters will be selling ice cream and popsicles at 11:30 for $1. Send money with your students and help us raise $$$ to support our Scrip program. There are some costs that we incur to participate in the program. We are planning a reception following the High School Band concert on May 14th. The concert begins at 7:00. The jazz Band will be playing in the foyer prior to the concert for about 20-30 minutes so come out and enjoy some great JAZZ!!! We hope you can all join us for the concert and the reception following the concert as we wish them well in their new endeavors. My name is James Collins, I'm a freshman Tenor Sax in W.E. at Hays, and I'm working to earn my Eagle Scout Rank. For my project, I am relandscaping the flagpole area at Hays High School. I am running a plant sponsorship fundraiser from May 7-18. For $50, you can sponsor a plant to be used in the landscape and get a 6x4 inch commemorative plaque beside it with whatever you want on it, or for $35 you can sponsor a plant w/o the plaque and still get recognition later on. Would you please forward this information to the band boosters and parents? I would greatly appreciate the word getting spread around on this. Kathy will be at Chapa MS the early part of the day with MS Solo &amp; Ensemble, if anyone wants to meet her there. She will be home in the evening. Folks can call me to set up a time on Sunday.<br style="">&nbsp;<br style="">MANY of you have asked me how the scrip program works. &nbsp;This is a fundraiser to raise money for YOUR students&rsquo; travel account. &nbsp; I( Theresa) make about $40- $50 each month for Matt&rsquo;s account. &nbsp;It is simple. &nbsp;I look and see where we spend our money on each month. &nbsp;HEB, Walmart, Walgreens, Subway, Taco Bell, Chilis, Pizza Hut, Papa Murphy&rsquo;s, and Kohl&rsquo;s - and I plan accordingly. &nbsp;I take the money I would normally spend &nbsp;at these places and place an order for the month. &nbsp;Then over the following month I use the gift cards to pay for my gas, groceries, prescriptions, and dining out and of course the clothes we purchase. &nbsp;Another example is if you know you need to make a big purchase like Judy needed a dishwasher. &nbsp;She went and priced it at Home Depot and purchased the cards for the dishwasher amount through scrip and then went and bought her dishwasher. &nbsp;This made lots of money for her sons account. &nbsp;I encourage you to participate as payments &nbsp;for the trip will start being due very soon. &nbsp;If you have questions please call me or one of the scrip coordinators: Judy Chida or Kathy Cavin. &nbsp;We are happy to explain it. &nbsp;information is also in great detail on the website Haysbands.org<br style="">&nbsp;<br style="">Remember the big trip is next spring. &nbsp;Information will be coming out soon about the cost. &nbsp;Last time the cost was between $1500 and $1600. &nbsp;This program is here to help you start putting money in the student account to pay for the trip. &nbsp;IT is basically FREEEEEE MONEY!!!!!! &nbsp;Our last order for the year will be placed in May on the 21st. &nbsp;There are only 2 more orders being placed this year. &nbsp;April 23rd and May 21st. &nbsp;We will not do orders over the summer until August when school resumes.<br style="">&nbsp;<br style="">Good Luck to our Middle school Band students who are participating in Solo and Ensemble on Saturday.&nbsp;<br style=""><br style="">Reminder that the end of Year Band Booster thank you to the volunteer party is being hosted by Jim and Janet Wallgren on April 28th beginning at 5:00. &nbsp;Bring a dish to share and Bring your own cooler of drinks. &nbsp;We hope our great volunteers this year can make it to celebrate a year well done!!!
